The evidence

What the research tells us

Researchers combined ginger and Reishi extracts at three ratios, using sucrose as a binder and crystallisation agent to make an instant powdered beverage.

The formulation with the greatest Reishi-extract proportion had the highest reported laboratory antioxidant activity. This does not identify a preferred flavour, prove a health benefit or establish the amount of a commercial dry extract to use per cup.

Material used in the study

An extract-based, sucrose-crystallisation process. This was not a simple dry blend of whole mushroom powder and ground ginger.

How it relates to this concept

The study provides the precedent for an instant ginger and Reishi powder drink. The proposed commercial extract and B6 addition are MUSHEEZ® formulation suggestions. Assess reconstitution, sediment and clarity at the intended serving temperature.
Balance ginger heat, Reishi bitterness and sweetness through sensory trials.
Test moisture uptake, caking, packaging protection and shelf life.
Validate B6 through dry storage and specified hot-water preparation. State dilution clearly; assess claim in the prepared drink. Lemon-peel grade must not be described as organic without confirmation.
